Dee's attacker made the cardinal error of trying to use a rifle as a firearm at close quarters. Dee broght themuzzle of the weapon in an arc to the ground and then, putting one foot against the barrel, dropped and rolled backward. The guard had instinctively retained his grasp on the gun; and now Dee's leverage, wit the length of the carine as a bar moving on the fulcrum of his foot, sent the man sailing over his head and into the wall. He dropped and lay motionless.
